Solo Debut, EKE Doesn't Want To Be Called A K-pop Artist
JAKARTA - Kim Eun Jae, better known as EKE, officially debuted as a soloist through a single titled 'In Another World'. The decision to debut as a soloist cannot be separated from his success as a K-pop songwriter, and especially when he was a voice actor for the animated film KPop Demon Hunters which achieved great success.
Although his debut as a soloist is closely related to the K-Pop-themed film, EJE insists that he does not want to be divided into K-Pop artists.
"As an artist, I don't want myself to be limited to being a 'K-pop' artist because I don't really see myself as a K-pop artist or pop artist," said EKE, citing Variety, Monday, October 27.
"I see myself as the songwriter of every genre," he said.
His background as a songwriter who is able to cross the boundaries of the genre is an important foundation for his artistic identity. He also plans to continue to release music in the future, focus on selecting the right songs, messages he wants to convey, and themes that can be connected to many people.
The music that he releases doesn't always have to be sad songs, but can be from any genre or theme that feels relevant.

Furthermore, the 33-year-old singer spoke about her journey before deciding to be a soloist, where she became the lyricist and songwriter from several K-pop groups to being involved in KPop Demon Hunters.
For him, the trip lasted until the time of the release of his debut single In Another World as an organic thing.
"I think people have heard my lyrics and messages. It's just that through different message carriers, right?" he said.
The difference now is that he himself sings his songs. "People are so good they want to hear more," he concluded.
