Airlangga Says Indo-Pacific Could Be The Epicenter Of The World Economy
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that the Indo-Pacific region is the main driver of global economic growth.
He added that collective efforts to continue to encourage the growth of the Indo-Pacific region must be based on the principles of mutual respect, openness, and maintaining stability, in line with the mandate of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP).
According to him, the Indo-Pacific region covers nearly 60 percent of the world's population and generates more than 50 percent of the Global GDP, and pushes nearly two-thirds of the world's economic growth and covers nearly half of the world's trade volume.
"This condition makes Indo-Pacific the epicenter of the world economy with many major countries in it, such as the RRT, United States, Japan, India, and also Indonesia," he said at the 2025 ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Monday, October 27.
He added that to continue to maintain this momentum, the growth generated must also be inclusive and ensure that each party gets the same opportunity.
In order to ensure this equality, Airlangga said that Indonesia actively contributes to increasing connectivity and regional competitiveness by ensuring that every child gets quality education through the Free Nutrition Food program and People's Schools and expands economic access to remote areas through the Red and White Cooperative.
