Nadiem's Attorney Questions The Basis On The Calculation Of State Losses Of IDR 1.98 Trillion In The Chromebook Case

The attorney for the suspect in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebooks at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) in 2019-2022, Nadiem Makarim, said that the value of state losses of Rp1.98 trillion, which the Attorney General's Office said was uncertain.

"(Regarding) the state's financial losses, we actually don't know where the Rp1.98 trillion figure came from," Nadiem's attorney, Tabrani totaled in a press conference in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, October 27.

Badminton mengatakan, hingga kini pihaknya belum melihat hasil penuhan resmi baik dari Badan Pengawasan Keuangan dan Pembangunan (BPKP) maupun Badan Pemeriksaan Keuangan (BPK).

According to him, if there is a definite state loss figure, it should be conveyed in the trial of the pretrial application submitted by Nadiem some time ago.

Karena hasil angka itu yang kita dapat di persidangan pretrial hanya bukti expos. Expose itu bagian dari tahap audit yang dilakukan auditor, dan belum mencantum angka pasti berapa kerugian negara, kata harap.

He also assessed that so far there has been no strong evidence to show state financial losses in the alleged corruption case.

Previously, the Attorney General's Office said that the value of state financial losses in the procurement of information and communication technology (ICT) devices at the Ministry of Education and Culture was estimated at IDR 1.98 trillion. This figure is still in the process of being calculated by BPKP.

The AGO has also named five suspects in the alleged corruption case of the education digitization program for the 2019-2022 period.

The five suspects are JT (Jurist Tan), Special Staff of the Minister of Education and Culture 2020-2024, BAM (Ibrahim Arief), former technology consultant at the Ministry of Education and Culture, SW (Sri Wahyuningsih), former Director of SD Directorate of PAUD, Dikdas, and Dikmen Kemendikbudristek in 2020 2021, MUL (Mulyatsyah), former Director of SMP for the 2020 period 2021, and Nadiem Makarim, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

The AGO said the five suspects were suspected of being involved in irregularities in the procurement of Chromebooks and ICT devices sourced from the school digitization program budget.
