Mountan Sampah Jadi Terrotan, Presiden Prabowo Minta Infrastruktur Difokuskan Untuk Kebersihanan

BEKASI - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo revealed that President Prabowo Subianto requested that future infrastructure development be focused on handling waste problems.

"Alhamdulillah, Mr. President from the start has reminded us all to immediately focus on dealing with waste," said Dody at a press conference at the peak of commemoration of World Habitat Day and World City Day 2025 in Bekasi, West Java, Antara, Monday, October 27.

According to Dody, waste management can start from the most basic habit, namely sorting out and choosing waste before throwing it into the dump.

"We are starting to educate the public, especially children. We hope that the culture of sorting out and choosing garbage has become a habit from an early age," he said.

Dody emphasized that the culture of sorting waste is now a must, considering that urban waste volume continues to increase.

"We can see how high the mountain of garbage is in Bantar Gebang. But in the future, God willing, such mountains will decrease with a new culture starting from our children, from ourselves," he said.

He added that changes in people's behavior in managing waste will support the goal of a cleaner and more sustainable Indonesia Gold 2045.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Cipta Karya, Ministry of Public Works, emphasized that waste sorting is an important step in realizing a humanistic smart city.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo also highlighted the importance of local government's commitment to sustainable waste management. "The local government must take on the main role, innovate, and involve the community in waste management, especially at the household level," he said.

Director General of Cipta Karya, Dewi Chomistriana, added that smart cities need a collaborative ecosystem, from precision planning to the formation of their citizens' habits.

"Infrastructure will function effectively when accompanied by appropriate behavior, especially the culture of choosing waste from an early age," he said.
