Ukraine Attacks Russia With Hundreds Of Drones Including Moscow Targets

JAKARTA - Russian air defenses shot down dozens of Ukrainian unmanned aircraft bound for Moscow. The military dropped nearly 160 other drones in other areas in an attack that killed one person and injured five others.

Nearly four years into Europe's deadliest land war since World War Two, Russia is trying to destroy Ukraine's energy system while Kyiv is trying to cripple oil refineries belonging to the world's second-largest oil exporter.

As reported by Reuters on Monday, October 27, Russia's Ministry of Defense said 34 Ukrainian drones were shot down on their way to Moscow, a city of more than 22 million people along with the surrounding Moscow region.

There have been no reports of major damage in Moscow, but Russia rarely discloses the full-scale impact of Ukrainian attacks on its territory unless it involves civilians or civilian objects.

Russian aviation watchdog Rosaviatsiya said two of the four Moscow airports, Domodedovo Airport and Zhukovsky Airport, were temporarily closed for security reasons.

In total, 193 drones were shot down by Russia, the Defense Ministry said, including 47 above Bryansk, a region southwest of Russia bordering Ukraine.

There, Ukraine's drone hit the minibus, killed its driver and injured five passengers, said local governor Alexander Bogomaz, via the Telegram messaging app.

There has been no immediate comment from Ukraine. Kyiv previously said his attack was aimed at destroying key infrastructure in launching Russia's war in Ukraine.

Both sides have denied targeting civilians, but thousands of people have died in the conflict, mostly Ukrainians.
