Pramono Offers Compensation For Victims Of Falling Trees In Pondok Indah, Family Rejects
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his condolences to the car driver who died as a result of being hit by a fallen tree in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta. Pramono admitted that he personally knew the 50-year-old victim.
'Incidentally, I know the deceased personally. What coincidence? The deceased's boss is my friend. So I personally know the late Harry," said Pramono in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, Monday, October 27.
The DKI Provincial Government offered compensation claims for victims due to falling trees on Sunday, October 26.
The assistance can be given a maximum of IDR 50 million for victims who died and a maximum of IDR 25 million for vehicle or building damage.
However, Pramono admitted that the victim's family refused to be given assistance because he was able to take care of the deceased's return independently.
"Because of this, I'm sorry, I died because I was hit by a tree, there were insurance and so on, which we will help to take care of. First, the deceased's family has decided not to use or the facilities we provide, but will be buried in the family grave in Bogor. Then for insurance and so on, it will be handled separately," said Pramono.
So that the incident of fallen trees no longer occurs and takes victims, the DKI Jakarta City Parks and Forest Service (Distamhut) will install a buffer fence around the tree.
"With this incident, I have decided, I have ordered Pak Fajar (Head of Distamhut) to be handled immediately, maybe there are 5,000 trees that need triggers or buffers. Otherwise, this incident can happen again," he said.
