Mass Shooting In Washington DC Injures Dozens Of People, Including Children

JAKARTA - At least tens of people, including a five-year-old child, were injured in a series of separate shooting incidents in Washington, DC, according to a Washington Post report citing local police.

The shooting took place in several locations around the Washington district on Friday (24/10) night and Saturday (25/10) morning. Until now it is not clear whether these incidents are interrelated.

Five people, consisting of four adults and a child, were injured near Howard University after a reunion, police said on Saturday quoted by the Washington Post.

One of the victims was reported to have suffered life-threatening injuries, while another victim, including a boy aged five or six, is thought to have survived despite injuries, said police spokesman Tom Lynch.

The Washington Post says the death toll reflects Washington's "hardest night", DC, since the spike in federal law enforcement operations began in August.

On August 11, US President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of National Guard troops to Washington, DC, amid a declaration of a public security emergency,' and confirmed that he would restore order in other cities with high crime rates such as New York, Chicago, Baltimore, ungo, and Los Angeles.

The president stated that his government is determined to make US cities safer by all means, even if the decision goes against the wishes of a number of Democratic governors and mayors.
