Connecting Samosir Island Destinations And Beauty, ASDP Presents AjibataAmbarita Cross Service

PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) is here to provide access to the Ajibata-Ambarita track service, a vital route that is the main gateway to tourist destinations on Samosir Island.

ASDP President Director, Heru Widodo, emphasized that the presence of ASDP in the Lake Toba area is part of this great BUMN effort in strengthening inter-regional connectivity and supporting national tourism.

"Our presence in the Sumatra region, especially in the Lake Toba area, is a tangible manifestation of ASDP's support for sustainable tourism development. Through reliable, safe, and comfortable services, we want to make sure every tourist can enjoy the beauty of Samosir Island easily," Heru said in an official statement, Sunday, October 26.

According to Heru, increasing tourism accessibility will encourage regional economic growth, create new business opportunities, and improve the welfare of local communities.

"When tourism develops, the wheels of the economy rotate, and the surrounding community also enjoy the benefits," he said.

Meanwhile, ASDP Corporate Secretary, Shelvy Arifin explained that Samosir Island has a uniqueness that lies in the combination of nature, culture, and harmonious community life.

"Harmony between natural wealth, produce, and culture that typically makes Samosir a special tourist destination. Through the Ajibata-Ambarita track, ASDP plays an important role in connecting tourists with this beauty, as well as strengthening connectivity in the Lake Toba area," explained Shelvy.

In addition to natural beauty, visitors can enjoy cultural attractions such as tor-tor dances, traditional Batak houses, as well as various traditional ceremonies that attract local and foreign tourists. All of this further strengthens Samosir's position as one of Indonesia's leading destinations.

As of September 2025, the Ajibata-Ambarita route has served 481,076 passengers and 111,751 vehicles. Of these, four-wheeled vehicles dominated 78,393 units, followed by 24,704 two-wheeled vehicles.

This figure shows that the track is one of the busiest routes in the Lake Toba area and is the main backbone of tourist mobility and distribution of logistics between regions.

General Manager of ASDP Lake Toba Branch, Mario Sardadi, arranged ASDP to operate two main ships on this track, namely KMP Ihan Batak and KMP Pora-Pora. Both serve crossings regularly every day starting at 07.30 WIB.

"Our services operate on a regular schedule so that people's mobility is maintained. Monday to Thursday ends at 18.00 WIB, while Friday to Sunday is extended until 21.15 WIB to anticipate a surge in tourists," said Mario.
