Encourage Farmer Productivity, PTBA Builds Two Irrigation PLTS In Muara Enim

JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) inaugurated two Irrigation Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in Matas Village and Tanjung Agung Village, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra.

These two Irrigation PLTS are environmentally friendly power plants that began construction in May 2025 and completed in August 2025. Each Irrigation PLTS has an installed capacity of 11.8 kilowatt peak, with a panel of 20 pieces standing on an area of 150 square meters, and capable of irrigating land of about 20 hectares per village.

PTBA Human Resources Director Ihsanuddin Usman said the construction of the two Irrigation PLTS was a form of the company's contribution in encouraging and expanding the use of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) in the community.

"Until now, PTBA has built 11 PLTS Irrigation around operational areas, including in Tanjungan, Muara Lawai, Tanjung Raja, Karang Raja, and Tanjung Agung, with a total of 1,169 beneficiaries and a watered area of approximately 639 hectares," he said in an official statement, Sunday, October 26.

It does not stop there, said Ihsanuddin, later it will be continued by building three other Irrigation PLTS which are currently taking place in Muara Sugar Baru, Kepur, and Muara Lawai Seberang.

Ihsanuddin said this step was in line with PTBA's goal to support the government in accelerating the clean energy transition and improving the welfare of the community.

"With this PLTS, it is hoped that farmer productivity in Matas and Tanjung Karangan villages will increase from one to two to three harvests per year, with an additional potential yield of around 200 to 300 tons of milling dry unhulled rice per year," he hoped.

In addition to providing economic benefits for approximately 64 farmers, Ihsanuddin said that this Irrigation PLTS also contributes to more environmentally friendly agricultural practices, and contributes to reducing carbon emissions.

This step also received appreciation from Governor Herman Deru, who considered that the contribution of PTBA not only supports clean energy, but also empowers rural communities through increasing agricultural productivity.

Then, Muara Enim Regent H. Edison also emphasized that this Irrigation PLTS is a clear proof of PTBA's role in regional development.
