IDX Invites Teachers To Become Investors To Grow Investment Culture In Papua

JAKARTA - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Papua continues to encourage increased financial literacy and inclusion in educational environments, one of which is through an invitation to teachers to become investors in the capital market.

Head of the Papua IDX Kresna Aditya Payokwa in Jayapura, Saturday, October 25, said the move was considered strategic in fostering a healthy investment culture from an early age in Papua.

"Teachers have a very big role as role models as well as good educators for students when teachers understand and practice investment, they can convey knowledge more effectively to students," he said, quoted by Antara.

According to Kresna, teachers are role models that interact directly with children every day.

"If teachers understand the right investment, then financial literacy can be instilled properly from school," he said.

"To support this effort, the Papua IDX presents the 'Guruku Investor Shares' program, which provides capital market literacy training and securities account opening facilities for teachers at the high school level," he said, explaining.

"Through cooperation with educational investment galleries in schools, each teacher also gets initial investment capital with a maximum value of IDR 500 thousand," he said.

Education to Ink teachers is important to protect the younger generation from the rampant fraudulent investment and online gambling practices targeting students. By strengthening teacher knowledge, prevention processes can be carried out more closely and effectively, he said, adding.

"Children should be introduced to healthy financial management, not actually trapped in harmful speculative actions," he said.
