President Xi Jinping To Attend APEC Summit In South Korea
JAKARTA - Chinese President Xi Jinping is confirmed to attend the APEC Summit in South Korea. Apart from attending the APEC Summit, President Xi will also make bilateral visits.
"APEC is the most important economic cooperation mechanism in Asia-Pacific. President Xi Jinping's presence at APEC's 32nd economic leader meeting shows how important China is for economic cooperation in Asia-Pacific," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun at a press conference in Beijing, Friday (24/10).
President Xi Jinping plans to deliver an important speech at the meeting and hold bilateral meetings with leaders from relevant countries.
"China is ready to work closely with all parties to contribute to cooperation and economic growth in Asia-Pacific, as well as jointly building an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future," added Guo Jiakun.

"China and South Korea are close neighbors and partners with each other. China is very concerned about relations with South Korea and our policies towards South Korea are always consistent and sustainable," said Guo Jiakun.
The state visit, Guo Jiakun said, would be President Xi Jinping's second state visit to South Korea in 11 years. The visit will also be the first meeting between leaders of the two countries after President Lee Jae-myung took office.
"China is ready to cooperate with South Korea to uphold the commitments that have been made in establishing diplomatic relations, upholding good neighboring relationships and friendship, working to benefit each other, and advancing strategic cooperation partnerships," explained Guo Jiakun.
Meanwhile, regarding President Xi's meeting with the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump, Guo Jiakun has not officially conveyed it.
"China and the US are in close communication regarding the meeting between the two presidents. We will continue to provide the latest information on this matter," added Guo Jiakun.
US President Donald Trump previously said he was optimistic that he would reach a "very strong" trade agreement with China in a upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea.
"When we left South Korea, maybe I could be wrong, but I think we will reach a very strong trade deal," Trump said. "Both parties will be satisfied."
