Trump Plans To Discuss Tariff Issues When Meeting Xi Jinping
JAKARTA - United States (US) President Donald Trump said his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping next week would be a very good meeting.
Speaking to reporters before leaving the White House for a tour of Asia, Trump said that discussions with Xi would include trade and tariff issues between the two countries, as well as issues related to Taiwan.
"We have a lot to talk about with President Xi, and he also has a lot to talk about with us. I think this will be a good meeting," Trump said.
He added that the 157 percent tariff currently imposed on China could not be maintained in the long term.

"I don't think it's sustainable for them, and they want to lower it," he said, adding that the United States also wanted a number of concessions from the Chinese side.
Trump is scheduled to meet Xi on October 30 on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation High Level Conference (APEC) in South Korea.
Prior to that, Trump will meet Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Sunday (26/10) and attend a dinner with US-ASEAN leaders.
After that, Trump will continue his trip to Tokyo to meet the new Japanese Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi.
The US president will then fly to Busan Port City in South Korea to meet President Lee Jae Myung, before delivering a speech at the APEC CEO's lunch and attending the US-APEC leaders' dinner.
