French Open 2025: Indonesian Representatives Stay Fajar/Fikri

JAKARTA - Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri managed to break into the semifinals at the French Open 2025. They are the only Indonesian representatives left in this tournament.

The eighth seeded pair continued their journey after beating Junaidi Arif/Roy King Yap (Malaysia) with the final score 21-14 and 24-22 on Friday, October 24, 2025 evening WIB.

"It's nice to be back in the semifinals, but we always want more," said Fajar in a statement received from PBSI Public Relations.

In the semifinals of Fajar/Rian will be tested by Malaysia's second seed, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik. This pair went to the semifinals after defeating Indonesia's representatives, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

Fajar/Fikri have so far set a meeting record against Aaron/Soh by winning their only competitive clash in the final round of the China Open 2025.

"Tomorrow I will meet Aaron/Woi Yik, after one win they will definitely be and whoever the opponent is, they will definitely learn the game of me and Fikri now," said Fajar.

This is Fajar/Fikri's fifth semifinal since they played together in six tournaments starting Japan Open 2025 last July.

After returning home in the quarter-finals of the Japan Open, Fajar/Fikri consistently reached the semifinals after which three of them continued to the final.

Indonesia actually has three representatives in the quarter-finals of the French Open 2025. Apart from Sabar/Reza, Alwi Farhan's men's singles ticket also failed to get a semifinal ticket.

Alwi returned from the tournament after losing against third seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn in three games 14-21, 21-16, and 8-21.
