Recitation Of The Intentions Of Fasting Sunnah On Monday And Its Meaning
JAKARTA - For Muslims, Mondays and Thursdays can be maximized for sunnah fasting. Fasting on Monday to Thursday is one of the fasts that is highly recommended by the Prophet.
As quoted from nu.or.id, the following is a hadith narrated by Imam Muslim which shows the recommendation of fasting sunnah on Monday.
Meaning, "From Qatadah Al-Anshari RA, the Prophet when asked about fasting on Monday said, 'That (Monday) is the day of my birth, the day of my apostleship or the day of revelation to me." (HR Muslim).
Then, the following is the pronunciation of the intention of fasting the sunnah of Monday and Thursday.
Nawaitu shauma yaumil itsnaini lillâhi ta'âlâ.
Meaning, "I intend to fast sunnah on Monday because of Allah SWT."
The scholars of the Syafi'i sect place the Monday sunnah fast in the first order before the Thursday sunnah fast of the fifteen types of sunnah fasting that are highly recommended in Islam.
The following is the information contained in the Book of Tuhfatut Thullab or Syarah Tahrir which quotes the hadith narrated by At-Tirmidhi and others as follows:
Meaning, "The recommended fasts are fifteen. The first is the sunnah fast on Monday and Thursday because the Prophet SAW chose to fast on Monday and Thursday. The Prophet said, 'Various human deeds are displayed before (Allah) on Monday and Thursday. I am happy when My charity is presented when I fast. ' HR At-Tirmidhi and others."
