French Open 2025: Alwi Failed, Men's Singles After

JAKARTA Indonesian men's singles at the French Open 2025 were confirmed to be over after Alwi Farhan was eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing against Kunlavut Vitidsarn.

Alwi was forced to fight in a three-game match against the third seed which ended with a score of 14-21, 21-16, and 8-21 at the Glaz Arena on Friday, October 24, 2025, WIB night.

Alwi admitted that the match against the Thai representative was quite difficult and this was an important lesson for him in the future.

"I always worked hard to get the win, but today is not enough. So, I have to prepare myself better," he said after the match.

This defeat further worsened Alwi's record against Kunlavut. Of their total three clashes, he never won.

Two previous defeats were also experienced this year, successively at the China Open in July 2025 and the BWF World Championship a month later.

The 2023 junior world champion said he would continue to try his best in the future, but still set aside the chances of qualifying for the BWF Tour Finals.

"For example, qualifying (BWF Tour Finals) is a bonus, but most importantly in the rest of this year, I want to get better results," said the 20-year-old badminton player.

Indonesia has deployed a total of three men's singles here with Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. The two names previously returned home in the second half yesterday, October 23, 2025.
