Palace Prepares Ojol Presidential Regulation, Arranges Driver Protection

JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the government was preparing a presidential regulation (perpres) that regulates the Ojekonline (ojol) sector, especially regarding the protection of driver-partners.

"Yes, especially protection for ojol friends," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Friday, October 24.

Prasetyo explained that the draft regulations had been received by his party and still needed a communication process with various stakeholders.

The government, he said, is looking for the best solution so that the regulations prepared can provide legal certainty while protecting all parties involved.

"Yes, that's why we studied the draft. Then there are things that still need to be communicated with all parties. We are looking for the best solution," he said.

He said discussions about the rule had reached the final stages and left only a few technical matters that still needed to be agreed upon with the applicator company.

The government targets the regulation to be completed in the near future, even potentially completed before the end of this year.

"Perhaps, it is very possible (the village this year). Already there, there are only a few that we still have to find a common ground. But in general, almost all of them are there," said Prasetyo.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto in the Plenary Cabinet Session held Monday (20/10), to coincide with one year of government, said the government continues to discuss with ojol service provider companies to provide the best service to driver-partners.

"We want this ojol job field, this ojol driver is guaranteed. If I'm not mistaken, there are 4 million ojol drivers, yes, in the two large companies and around 2 million entrepreneurs who use ojol as a means of buying and selling MSMEs," said President Prabowo.

The Head of State also said that the government's form of attention to ojol driver partners has also been seen through the provision of holiday bonuses.

"For the first time in the history of motorcycle taxi drivers receiving holiday bonuses, for the first time," said Prabowo.
