Bogor Transportation Agency Officers Police Angkot Drivers After Being Beaten During A Demonstration
Three officers from the Bogor City Transportation Service (Dishub) reported the case of a beating to the Bogor City Police after being a victim of violence during a demonstration by an angkot driver on Jalan Juanda, Bogor City, West Java.
The head of the Bogor City Transportation Agency, Sujatmiko Baliarto, said that legal action was taken so that similar incidents would not be repeated and a lesson for all parties in conveying their aspirations in an orderly manner.
"Let's not mess with the law. We can't. Anarchists have gone too far, and we ask for legal proceedings," said Sujatmiko as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, October 24.
He explained that so far there have been three members of the Transportation Agency who have made official reports to the police, accompanied by four witnesses who also provided information.
"We have only three who reported today, with four witnesses," he said.
Sujatmiko said that the victims experienced physical violence with different levels of injuries. Further examination will be carried out in the Investigation Report (BAP) by the police.
"Later in the BAP, because each one is different," he added.
He emphasized that the Bogor City Government did not prohibit the public from expressing their aspirations, but it must be carried out peacefully and in accordance with legal provisions.
"Conveying aspirations is permissible, venting is also permissible, but don't beat. Legal countries should not judge themselves," he said.
Sujatmiko also reminded that the party responsible for the action, especially the field coordinator, must participate in maintaining the situation so as not to cause chaos.
"The coordinator must also be responsible," he said.
