Menkomdigi Meutya Yakin AI Bisa Ciptakan 90 Juta Lapangan Baru
JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) is a great opportunity for Indonesia's economic growth, not a threat to the human workforce.
The Indonesian government reminded that around 85 million jobs are predicted to be lost by 2025 due to the rapid development of AI and automation in various industrial sectors.
However, Meutya believes AI also has the potential to create 90 million new jobs, replacing lost jobs due to AI.
"It is reported that artificial intelligence will replace around 85 million jobs by 2025. However, at the same time, AI also has the potential to create 90 million new jobs in various fields. Therefore, AI needs to be watched out for, but there is no need to be afraid," Meutya said as quoted on Friday, October 24.
According to Meutya, Indonesia is one of the most optimistic countries in the world in the face of AI developments. He also believes that the Indonesian people show high readiness to accept new technology without excessive fear.
"Based on various surveys, Indonesia is considered a country that is able to receive AI well, is not afraid, and that is a good sign," he said.
Meutya emphasized that AI must be positioned to strengthen human abilities, not replace them. He hopes that AI can be interpreted as a tool that strengthens humans.
