Danantara Boss: Garuda Doesn't Sell Planes, Just Returns To Lessor

JAKARTA - Danantara Chief Operation Officer (COO) Dony Oskaria straightened out the issue of aircraft sales by PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. He said Garuda did not sell assets.

"There is no sale of assets (Garuda aircraft). Nothing," he told reporters in Jakarta, Thursday, October 23.

The head of the BUMN Regulatory Agency (BP) explained that what Garuda did was only return the plane that had matured to the lessor.

"Sales of assets, not aircraft assets. When the plane is sold? It's not sold, but if it's due, of course something will be returned (to the lessor)," he said.

Even so, Dony was reluctant to specify how many planes were returned by Garuda Indonesia to the lessor.

"How many questions did Garuda ask," he explained.

For your information, the issue of selling Garuda aircraft emerged in the agenda of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) which will be held by Garuda Indonesia on November 22, 2025, at the Garuda Management Building, Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

In the EGMS, there are four agendas. First, the approval of the increase in authorized capital, issued capital, and paid-up capital in connection with the issuance of new shares through the mechanism for the Increase in Rights Without Rights (PMTHMETD). This step is claimed to be a follow-up to the EGMS which was held on June 30, 2025.

Furthermore, the second agenda asks for shareholder approval regarding the transfer of the company's assets, which is worth more than 50 percent of Garuda's total net worth.

The steps were carried out by transferring and deleting assets in the form of aircraft, unused aircraft, and Low Value Assets (LVA) and the Load Device Unit (ULD).

Then, the third agenda asks for the approval of shareholders regarding the transfer of authority related to the transfer of the company's assets, which is more than 50 percent of the company's net worth.

Finally, Garuda EGMS intends to seek shareholder approval of the company's long-term plan (RJPP).
