Pramono Admits Funeral Land In Jakarta Is Running Low, Considers New TPU And Leveled Graves
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admits that limited burial land in the capital city is a serious problem that is also faced by many major cities in the world.
"This is a real problem as one of the big cities like Jakarta, and I say what it is," said Pramono at the Jakarta International Velodrome, East Jakarta, Thursday, October 23.
To overcome this problem, Pramono has ordered the DKI Jakarta City Parks and Forests Service (Distamhut) to look for new land that can be used as a public cemetery (TPU).
"I ask to open new TPUs that allow. Now it is being carried out by the Parks Service. Hopefully in the near future there will be," he said.
Currently, Jakarta has 80 TPUs spread across five city areas, but 69 of them are full and only serve overlapping graves, namely funerals on family graves. According to Pramono, this overlapping system is a temporary solution in the midst of land constraints.
TPU di Jakarta itu ada sekitar 80 lebih dan hampir 60 lebih sudah penuh. Yang masih bisa dilakukan hanya cemeteries berlap. Ini menjadi persoalan yang harus ditangani Pemprov DKI, katanya.
Now there are 11 TPUs that are still serving new funerals, namely:
1. East Jakarta: TPU Rawa Terate, Cipayung, Cilangkap, Bambu Apus, and Cipinang Besar
2. North Jakarta: Rorotan TPU
3. South Jakarta: Tanah Kusir TPU, Srengseng Sawah, and Kampung Kandang
4. West Jakarta: Tegal Alur TPU and Complaints TPU
"Now there are only about 11 TPUs that can still be piled up without being piled up," said Pramono.
Furthermore, he revealed that there are several alternative options, ranging from the construction of graded tombs to the addition of TPU outside the Jakarta area.

"There is a proposal, but it has not become a decision, whether it will be allowed to be made in stages, or make a funeral outside Jakarta. Everything is being studied," he added.
