Anticipating Rainy Season, Mataram City Government Prepares Disaster Preparedness Command Posts To Environmental Levels
MATARAM - The City Government (Pemkot) of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has prepared a disaster preparedness post to the environmental level to anticipate potential hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, tidal waves, tornadoes, fallen trees, and landslides during the rainy season.
"The main disaster preparedness post remains at the Mataram City BPBD Office on the South Ring Road," said Acting Head of the Mataram City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Ahmad Muzaki in Mataram, Antara, Thursday, October 23.
Muzaki explained that the supporting post was formed to facilitate coordination, monitoring, and emergency handling during disasters in the rainy season. The existence of the command post is also expected to accelerate the response to disaster events and facilitate services to the community.
In addition to the sub-district, sub-district and neighborhood levels, BPBD also requested the establishment of supporting posts in a number of technical regional apparatus organizations (OPD), such as the Environmental Service, PUPR Service, Social Service, and the Housing and Settlement Areas Service.
"With the supporting post, all information on potential disasters can be conveyed to the lowest public, so that the public is more aware of weather changes and potential disasters," he said.
Muzaki said, based on information from the BMKG, currently the Mataram region is entering a transition period from the dry season to the rainy season, with the peak of rain predicted to occur from November to December 2025.
