Stepdaughter 9 Months Pregnant, Father In Garut Arrested By Police

Garut Resort Police arrested a man with the initials IS (56) for allegedly committing immoral acts against his stepdaughter in Pasirwangi District, Garut Regency, West Java. The depraved act lasted three years ago until the victim is now nine months pregnant.

"Currently, the perpetrators have been arrested for further legal proceedings," said Head of the Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) AKP Joko Prihatin in Garut, Antara, Thursday, October 23.

Joko said that this case was handled by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Garut Police. Based on the results of the investigation and the evidence collected, the police named IS as a suspect because he was strongly suspected of having sex with a minor.

"The suspect committed a criminal act of sexual intercourse and or obscene acts against minors," said Joko.

This case was revealed starting from the suspicion of the victim's schoolmate who saw the victim's physical changes, such as being pregnant. The friend then reported to his homeroom teacher.

The principal who received the report immediately approached the victim until finally the victim was willing to be examined by the midwife.

The results of the examination showed that the victim was pregnant with an eight to nine month gestational age.

To the teacher, the victim admitted that she had been sexually assaulted by her stepfather since she was in the second grade of junior high school in 2022. The action continued until the victim is now a second grade high school student in 2025.

"The suspect's actions were carried out at his own home and continue to this day," said Joko.

The school then reported the incident to the police. Not long after, officers arrested the perpetrator along with a number of evidences, including the victim's clothes.

The police charged the suspect with Article 76D in conjunction with Article 81 paragraphs (1) and (2), and Article 76E in conjunction with Article 82 paragraph (1) of Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Child Protection, with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
