Bogor Regent Suspects Flash Flood In Cigudeg Due To Illegal Mining
BOGOR - Bogor Regent Ade Yasin suspects that flash floods in Cigudeg, Bogor Regency, West Java occurred due to silting the river from illegal mining activities in the area.
"I asked the village head, the police chief and the military to report about illegal mining activities that caused silting of this river. The problem is that they do not have a license and mining activities are also unclear and definitely damage the ecosystem," said Ade Yasin while inspecting the flood site, in Rengasjajar Village, Cigudeg, Bogor quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 19.
According to him, sand and rock mining activities (excavation C) have caused silting in the Cidangder River, so that it is unable to accommodate the water discharge during heavy rains in the area consisting of mountains and hills.
However, Ade Yasin ensured that the Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab) was trying to meet the needs of the victims of flash floods in the three villages of Cigudeg District.
"We have also prepared medical personnel at the posts that have been established," he said.
He said, the results of the assessment of the Bogor Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the worst impact of flash floods occurred in Tegallega Village compared to the other two affected villages, namely Rengasjajar and Batujajar Villages.
The flash flood incident which occurred at around 19.30 WIB on Monday, May 17 was due to the overflow of Cidangder River. The overflow of the tributary of the Cidurian River broke the embankment, so that water entered the settlement.
The river water that soaked the settlement as high as an adult's chest then gradually receded until 22.00 WIB.
