Allegedly Lacking Domestic Supply, Malaysian Gas Cylinder Used At SPPG MBG In Kaltara
Head of the North Kalimantan Ombudsman (Kaltara), Maria Ulfah, found that there were two LPG gas cylinders produced by Malaysian oil and gas companies during a visit to the kitchen of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) at Muhammadiyah Tarakan High School, North Kalimantan.
This discovery occurred when Maria Ulfah monitored the operation of the government's priority program, namely the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) which serves nearly 3,000 beneficiaries in Tarakan.
"Indeed, we have very many of the 12 gas cylinders with pink and blue colors, we also found that there are red and green colors, it was in the SPPG kitchen earlier," said Ombudman Kaltara Chairman Maria Ulfah, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, October 23, 2025.
However, Maria Ulfah did not mind the findings of the foreign gas. According to her, this is most likely related to the smooth operation of the MBG program in the border area, where the domestic gas supply for cooking needs is insufficient.

Reasons for SPPG Logistics
Maria Ulfah suspects that the gas from Malaysia was used for practical logistical reasons. She said the SPPG experience showed that the domestic gas used was not enough to support food production for 2,965 beneficiaries every day.
"It is possible that there are gas cylinders from Malaysia, he said, because the experience of the SPPG in the operation of the gas used is not enough, it uses gas from Malaysia," explained Maria.
The Ombudsman emphasized that the MBG Program is a direct program from President Prabowo Subianto which must be supported by adequate facilities and infrastructure, including the availability of fuel for food supply.
Urge Domestic Gas Company Support
Responding to this, Maria Ulfah hopes that the findings will be of concern to companies that take care of gas in Indonesia to provide optimal support to MBG kitchens.
"So it is necessary to support business actors in our country, especially SPPG, including the availability of gas earlier and should receive attention," said Maria Ulfa.
The SPPG kitchen at Muhammadiyah Tarakan High School itself serves a total of 2,965 students from various schools, ranging from kindergarten to high school in Tarakan.
