Dean Huijsen Ready To Make A Surprise At El Clasico Real Madrid Vs Barcelona

Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen is still an enigma as to whether he can be played against Barcelona in El Clasico in the La Liga Spanish competition. Huijsen was definitely absent when Madrid met Juventus in the Champions League.

Madrid face two games not easy. After fighting Juve at the Santiago Bernabeu, Thursday, October 23, 2025 in the morning WIB, Madrid were challenged by Barca's arch rivals in the domestic competition. The El Clasico match was held at home to Madrid, Sunday, October 26, 2025 in the morning WIB.

The big match is getting tougher because coach Xabi Alonso lost half of the defender. Finally, defender David Alaba, who suffered an injury in a 1-0 win over Getafe in La Liga, last weekend.

A calf injury forced Alaba to leave the arena to be replaced by Raul Asencio. He was also in doubt of recovering soon so that Alaba was doubtful of being able to face Barca.

Despite staying at the top of the standings after winning in an away match, Los Merengues went into crisis in the back sector.

Previously, Alonso had lost Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal. Against Getafe, midfielder Federico Valverde was placed behind to fill in the right back. In addition, Antonio Rudiger is still undergoing treatment and is expected to return only next year.

Alexander-Arnold and Carvajal are in a race against time. Both of them have returned to training. However, Alonso stated that their condition is still under monitoring day after day. If not fit, Alexander-Arnold will postpone his debut at El Clasico. Likewise Carvajal is still waiting for fit.

What about Huijsen? Like Alexander-Arnold and Carvajal, he is still a puzzle because of the race against time. Huijsen suffered a calf injury while undergoing a training camp for the Spanish national team.

As a result, he failed to strengthen La Roja in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and was sent home to the club for intensive treatment. Huijsen was also not played against Getafe. He also missed the Champions League match.

But when asked about the opportunity to play at El Clasico, the former Bournemouth player even said he would surprise him.

"I know whether I can appear in Clasico or not. But I want to make a surprise," Huijsen was quoted as saying by Sports Illustrated.

When he recovers, Alonso is also not certain to play Huijsen. The reason is that he has not played for three weeks and upon his return, Huijsen even had to face Barca.
