Xiaomi Resilience Test 17 Pro: Dragon Glass Screen Tough, But Plastic Back Disappointing
JAKARTA - Xiaomi's latest flagship smartphone, Xiaomi 17 Pro, has just undergone extreme resistance tests by renowned YouTuber Zack from the JerryRigEverything channel. The result? The front screen with Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 looks impressive, but the back of the plastic is a weak point that doesn't match the flagship standards of its class.
In the video, Xiaomi 17 Pro shows extraordinary resistance to scratches. The Dragon Glass layer at the front was able to withstand scratches to level 7 on the Mohs violence scale, while many other flagship phones began to scratched at level 6. Although not as strong as iPhone 17 Pro's Ceramic Shield, Zack admits that Xiaomi's Dragon glass is the best among Android phones he has tested.
However, solid performance at the front is not balanced with the back. Xiaomi chose to use a plastic back panel with a plain glass coating, not a full glass as flagship fans expected. On the bright side, the phone frame from aluminum anodized gives a strong and premium impression, as well as adds resistance to physical pressure.

In the tight test, Xiaomi 17 Pro again showed convincing performance. This phone is not cracked or has serious deformation when twisted with its hands. Its strong internal structure allows this device to withstand high pressure without damage means something that is rarely encountered in phones with plastic rear panels.
Zack also carried out a teasedown to show the inside of the phone, highlighting the efficient layout of components and cooling systems. Overall, he concluded that the Xiaomi 17 Pro is one of the toughest flagships of the year, although it is not yet perfect in terms of body materials.
The Xiaomi 17 series is currently only being marketed in China, and is planned to be released globally in early 2026. So, if you're aiming for a flagship with extraordinary resilience and a price more affordable than competitors, Xiaomi 17 Pro could be an attractive option "as long as you don't really mind the plastic back
