Unique Engineering Students Build Solidarity And Prove Social Concern Through Innovation
TANJUNG CELLOR Faculty of Engineering, University of Kaltara (Unikaltar) again shows the spirit of togetherness and social awareness through two big agendas that reflect the character of its students, namely the welcoming of new students and the act of community service.
This year, as many as 40 new students officially joined the big family of the Faculty of Unique Engineering consisting of 30 students of the Civil Engineering Study Program and 10 students of the Architectural Study Program.
The welcoming activity that carries the theme 'Condition of the Joint Strength of New Students of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Kaltara which Innovations with Solidarity Kokoh' is an important momentum to instill values of togetherness, academic ethics, and the spirit of solidarity from an early age.
The Dean of the Faculty of Unique Engineering, Enny Harviyanti, said that welcoming new students is not just an annual ceremony, but is also the first step in building superior characters and a sense of social responsibility among students.
"We want new students not only to be academically intelligent, but also to have a strong social sensitivity, enthusiasm for innovation, and solidarity," said Enny, Wednesday, October 22.
This spirit was proven through the work of high-level students from two active study programs in various regional and local level activities.
Students of the Architectural Study Program, for example, participated in the Indonesian Architectural Student Special Communication Forum (FKK-MAI) Regional Kalimantan, a prestigious event that brought together sustainable architectural ideas based on local wisdom in North Kalimantan.
"We are very proud, students of the Unikaltar Architecture have brought the identity of Kalimantan to the national stage. This is proof that their enthusiasm for learning is also accompanied by the responsibility of introducing regional potential," said Enny.
Meanwhile, Civil Engineering students carry out the Community Engineering Student Service (PMT2M) program with a focus on designing optimal points for trash cans and village lighting systems. This program is considered to be a tangible form of the application of engineering science in helping the surrounding community.
PMT2M's activities prove that Unikaltar Engineering students are not only thinking technically, but also socially. They learn to be sensitive to the needs of the community and provide an applicative solution," continued Enny.
According to him, these various activities reflect the success of the Faculty of Engineering in fostering synergies between innovation, social empathy, and campus solidarity.
"We hope that graduates of the Faculty of Unique Engineering in the future will not only become experts, but also agents of change that have a real contribution to the progress of the region and nation," he concluded.
