Tattooed Prisoners Who Escaped While Waiting For Trial At Cirebon District Court Arrested Again

CIREBON - The Cirebon City District Attorney, West Java, stated that three of the four detainees who escaped from the Cirebon District Court detention room were successfully recaptured by a joint team.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the Cirebon City Prosecutor's Office, Slamet Haryadi, said the incident occurred at around 13.00 WIB while the detainees were waiting for their turn for the trial in the court detention room.

"This afternoon, there were (four) detainees who ran away at the Cirebon District Court," said Slamet as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 22.

The four detainees escaped by breaking into the bathroom ceiling in the detention room. The action was carried out when the escort officers were outside the surveillance area.

Slamet said the four detainees who escaped were Muhammad Fitriadi, Habiburokhman, Jerry Anthony, and Fajar Alghifari alias Jarwo alias Bowo alias Danu Santanu.

"Three of them are defendants in the theft case, while one other person is involved in the molestation case," he said.

After the incident, joint officers immediately conducted a search to arrest four escaped prisoners.

He said after a few hours, three detainees were arrested again. Meanwhile, another detainee, Fajar Alghifari, is still being chased by officers.

"We, together with the intelligence team, the pidum team, the police, and other colleagues, have now managed to secure three people. One more is still being chased," he said.

He admitted that he did not expect the detainees to break into the top of the bathroom, which was thought to have been equipped with iron bars.

From the results of the pursuit, the three escaped prisoners were arrested at different locations, each at a soto shop, orphanage area, and a garden near the court building.

Slamet said the possibility of additional sentences for detainees who fled would be considered by the public prosecutor and the panel of judges.

"Because they clearly don't have good faith to change," he said.

To prevent a similar incident, officers have closed the ceiling that was broken down and tightened security in the Cirebon District Court detention room.
