Police Take Action On Etomade Vape Users Even Though It's Not Narcotics

The National Police emphasized that they would continue to take action against vape or e-cigarette users who use liquidzat anesthesia of the type of emodate, even though the substance is not a narcotic category.

Director of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso explained that the Dadaetomy was an anesthetic so that it was classified as drugs.

The use of these substances is still regulated in the Health Law Number 17 of 2023 and has not been attached as narcotics or psychotropic.

"Now it is manipulated by a network (drugs). Why? Because the network can be sold and used by users, where users cannot be said to be narcotics perpetrators," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 22.

Therefore, the police will continue to crack down on its circulation because the economy is also included in the pharmaceutical preparations without an official distribution permit from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

"The point is that we will continue to act on the economy. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Polisi Syahardiantono, yesterday issued an order. In fact, if you are informed, I will immediately act," he said.

Eko also revealed that the police not only took action against perpetrators who used the emodate, but also encouraged this substance to enter the narcotics category.

"We are also trying to persuade the regulatory side, in this case the Ministry of Health. Here from the Directorate of Drugs and Drugs, Bareskrim Polri, then from the National Narcotics Agency, and from BPOM it is in charge of providing data input, which later the Ministry of Health can make a decision to include the emodate in the attachment to narcotics or psychotropic substances," he said.

Etomade is a class of drugs that contain addictive substances and can make users feel like they have lost consciousness.

If inhaled into the lungs through vape, the etomydate can result in failure of vital organ function and cause confusion, tremors, and unstable walking styles.
