ChatGPT Will Disappear From WhatsApp, Users Asked To Move Chat History

JAKARTA After WhatsApp updated its business API policy, OpenAI announced that its ChatGPT account will also disappear from the messaging platform starting January 15.

So far, there are more than 50 million users who have used ChatGPT via WhatsApp. They also use the account for various things, ranging from chatting, creating, to learning.

With the loss of a ChatGPT account from WhatsApp, users must use the official application or website provided by OpenAI. However, before this account is completely lost, users are directed to move their chat history first.

OpenAI recommends users to download the ChatGPT app on iOS, Android devices or via web and desktop, including ChatGPT Atlas on MacOS. This original platform offers additional features such as voice conversations, in-depth research, and file uploads.

If you have downloaded, users need to connect their ChatGPT account with WhatsApp before the specified time limit. The handling process can be done through the 1-800-ChatGPT contact profile on WhatsApp by clicking on the URL provided.

Once the account is successfully linked, the user's phone number will be linked to the ChatGPT account and a previous WhatsApp conversation will appear in the ChatGPT history. This will ensure the user's chat history is stored and maintained.

OpenAI reminds that WhatsApp chat history will not be transferred automatically after January 15, 2026 because WhatsApp does not support chat exports. So that users don't forget, OpenAI will send reminders during the transition process.
