Police Arrest The Thief Of Electronic Equipment At The Unika St Paulus Ruteng Campus

LABUAN BAJO - Personnel of the Jatanras Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Manggarai Police, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), arrested a man with the initials WST (28) who was suspected of stealing electronic devices in the area of the Indonesian Catholic University (Unika) St Paulus Ruteng.

"Based on the results of the investigation, it is known that the perpetrator carried out his action on Thursday (16/10) at around 22.00 WITA," said Manggarai Police Chief AKBP Hendri Syaputra through the Head of Public Relations of the Manggarai Police, AKP Putu Saba Nugraha, contacted from Labuan Bajo, ANTARA, Wednesday, October 22.

The case was reported by Yohanes F. R. Palm (28), the General Coordinator of the Unika Foundation St Paulus Ruteng, after the campus lost a power amplifier unit worth Rp. 17 million.

After receiving the report, the Jatanras Unit of the Manggarai Police Satreskrim immediately conducted an investigation. From the search results, the perpetrator had offered stolen goods to other people.

"Based on this information, the team then made efforts to arrest and succeeded in securing WST at his home in Gang Piton, Mbaumuku Village, Langke Rembong District, Manggarai Regency," said Putu.

The results of the investigation revealed that the perpetrator entered the campus area by climbing over the side wall fence. After walking around, the perpetrator found a sound system room containing electronic equipment. Because the door of the room was locked, he returned home about 200 meters away to take a crowbar.

With this tool, the perpetrator dismantled the door of the room and took a power amplifier unit. The evidence was then hidden in his friend's boarding house, who did not know the proceeds of the crime.

"The alleged perpetrator and evidence have been secured at the Manggarai Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings," said Putu.

He also appreciated the support of the community who helped provide information so that cases were quickly revealed.
