Mike Shinoda Calls Emily Armstrong A Phenomenal And Rare Vocalist
JAKARTA - Comments regarding Emily Armstrong as the new spearhead Linkin Park still often arrive. And on various occasions, Mike Shinoda as the founder expressed his support for the vocalist.
Emily doesn't just continue the baton that Chester Bennington gave her. She became one of the reasons Linkin Park was reborn after Chester's tragedy of death that dealt a crushing blow to all band members and fan bases.
In his recent interview with Futuro, he reiterates if the process of the rise of Linkin Park comes from an organic process.
"We started getting back together a few years ago, and it was a very slow and natural process. When it started, we didn't say, 'We're going to bring this band back.' We didn't say, 'We're going on tour.' We just got together and wanted to see how it was like to get together, write music, and spend more time together," he said, quoted from Blabbermouth. Starting momentum again in September, Mike Shinoda rediscovered a musical passion with Emily joining as vocalist and Colin as a tour drummer.
"Emily is really a phenomenal figure. Found a rare voice like Chester, then found another voice like Emily, it was crazy. It didn't make sense," said Mike.

Vocal is not Mike Shinode's only consideration of recruiting Emily. There are important factors that many other singers don't have in their eyes.
"It's not just about how to sing, because there are thousands of great singers out there. And when I work with people, I have a lot of experience working with a lot of different singers who are very talented and I've performed with a lot of very talented singers. But something invisible happens when people gather in one room and make something together, and you feel the atmosphere is so easy, strong, and comfortable. It's easy to get along with each other. Even when you have different opinions about something you make or do, it doesn't turn into an argument. No one kills energy, the atmosphere," he explained.
Slowly but surely, Emily Armstrong has become a big family of Linkin Park and fans. The success of the album From Zero proves he has a strong commitment and soul to continuing Chester's legacy.
