The Government Will Fine And Blacklist The Perpetrators Of Importing Used Clothes
JAKARTA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadives will tighten the ban on importing used clothes in sacks (ballpres) and importers of these types of goods in the future will be subject to additional sanctions in the form of fines.
Purbaya explained that so far the action against the import of balpres generally only leads to the destruction of goods and the imposition of criminal penalties for the perpetrators.
According to him, this practice is detrimental to the state because the government actually bears the costs of carrying out the destruction without obtaining a fine income.
"Imports of used clothes, what kind of handling them are. Apparently, so far they can only be destroyed and those who import and go to prison, I don't get money, (the perpetrators) are not fined. So I lost, only came out of the cost to destroy the goods, "he told the media crew, Wednesday, October 22.
Furthermore, Purbaya stated that the government would blacklist the perpetrators of importing balpres so that they were prohibited from carrying out import activities and the identities of the perpetrators were known to the government.
"It looks like they already know, we already know who the players are. I forgot earlier, if someone had a vice presidential election, I would blacklist it, I couldn't import it anymore," he said.
He added that this action aims to revive domestic textile manufacturers and create jobs, so as to encourage legal and productive local production.
In addition, Purbaya emphasized that in the next three months DJBC will focus on developing a stronger detection and surveillance system, including the implementation of connected AI.
He added that this is a continuation of the development of LNSW by forming a trading think tank consisting of 10 experts from various fields to analyze trade leakage in strengthening LNSW, Customs and Excise, and Taxes.
"So we will strengthen it, Taxes will also be the same later, basically we will strengthen our revenue system from end to end monitoring," he said.

"In the future, from the command center, I hope you can see what the ship is doing at the port, what it contains, what it is. So we will build a system that is really connected there later," he added.
Purbaya said that in the next three months the AI developed will be able to start analyzing. However, for a truly integrated system so that it can see the ship's activities at the port directly, the target is about a year.
"But what is clear is that in the next few months the acceptance of Customs and Excise should be more efficient than now," he said.
