1.8 Million Illegal Cigarettes Destroyed In Bogor, Value Reaches IDR 2.8 Billion
BOGOR - Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto together with the Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC), Finari Manan, led the destruction of more than 1.8 million illegal cigarettes resulting from prosecution in the Bogor Regency area. The activity took place in the Pakansari Stadium area, Cibinong, on Tuesday, October 21.
The evidence destroyed was the result of continuous operations from a joint Customs and Excise team, the Bogor Regency Government, and regional law enforcement officials. The total value of goods reached around Rp. 2.8 billion with the potential loss to the state which was saved around Rp. 1.4 billion.
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the operation to eradicate illegal cigarettes, ranging from Forkopimda, Customs and Excise, Satpol PP, Linmas, to community organizations and the general public. According to him, this step is part of an effort to protect the community and the younger generation from the negative impact of the circulation of illegal goods.
"The steps we took have not been fully completed. To eradicate illegal cigarettes as a whole requires cooperation and an active role from all levels of society," said Rudy.
Rudy explained that the action against cigarettes without legal excise stamps was carried out regularly at various points that became distribution and circulation routes. In addition to illegal cigarettes, officers also took action against a number of alcoholic beverages without distribution permits.
"This destruction is the result of several examinations and operations. Local governments are committed to supporting Customs and Excise in eradicating excise cigarettes in the Bogor area," he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java Customs Office, Finari Manan, said that the number of illegal cigarettes destroyed reached 1,887,812 sticks, along with a number of drinks containing liquid alcohol and sliced tobacco. He stated that this action is clear evidence of the synergy between the local government and Customs and Excise in suppressing the circulation of illegal cigarettes in the community.
"The total goods destroyed today are worth around Rp. 2.8 billion, with the potential loss to the state that can be saved reaching Rp. 1.4 billion," said Finari.
He added that throughout 2025 Customs and Excise had taken action against about 10 million illegal cigarettes in the Bogor Regency area. At the provincial level, the target of prosecution in West Java reached 78.5 million sticks, and until October 2025 the realization had reached 78 million sticks.
Finari explained that the majority of the illegal cigarettes came from outside West Java, mainly from Madura, Central Java, and East Java. Bogor Regency is not a production area, but is one of the crossings and distribution routes to the marketing area.

Finari reminded the public not to be involved in the production, sale, or consumption of illegal cigarettes. In accordance with Article 54 of the Excise Law, violations of the circulation of illegal excisable goods can be subject to a maximum prison sentence of five years or a fine of up to IDR 5 billion.
