Update On COVID-19 As Of May 19: 4.871 New Cases, 4.364 Recovered

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 84.979 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 4.871 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 1.753.101 people and 87.829 active cases", the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Wednesday, May 19.

Cases recovered today increased by 4.364 cases so that a total of 1.616.603 people recovered. Then, 192 confirmed positive cases died, and a total of 48.669 people.

The province with the newest cases is in West Java with 1.219 cases and a total of 301.003 cases. Followed by DKI Jakarta which has 611 new cases with a total of 420.459 cases. Central Java has 404 new cases and a total of 191.588 cases. Then, Riau has 385 new cases and a total of 52.696 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to West Java with an additional 1.522 cases recovered. Followed by Riau with an increase of 469 recovered cases, West Sumatra with an increase of 358 recovered cases, and DKI Jakarta with an increase of 192 recovered cases.

There are three provinces that reported no new cases today. The provinces that reported zero new cases were West Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 15.717.414.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate was 18.86 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 73.807 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.

Furthermore, currently, there are 13.099.754 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 9.366.635 vaccines for the second dose. Meanwhile, the total target of vaccination stages 1 and 2 reached 40.349.049 people.
