Kerry Adrianto's Detention Moved To Salemba Rutan For Health Reasons

JAKARTA - The detention of one of the defendants in the case of corruption in the management of Pertamina crude oil and refinery products, Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, was transferred to the Class I Central Jakarta State Detention Center (Salemba).

The decision was contained in the Determination Number 102/Pid.Sus-TPK/2025/PN Jkt.Pst signed by the Chairman of the Panel of Judges Fajar Kusuma Aji along with members of the Council of Khusnul Khotimah, Adek Nurhadi, Sigit Herman Binaji, and Mulyono Dwi Purwanto. The transfer was made from the Salemba Rutan Branch of the South Jakarta District Attorney to the Class I Central Jakarta (Salemba) State Detention Center starting October 20.

"Granted the request of the Defendant's Legal Advisory Team, Muhamad Kerry Adrianto Riza," reads the verdict which was published on Monday, October 20.

Kerry's legal advisory team has asked for the transfer since Monday, October 13. The decision was taken due to health considerations based on the medical resume of Adhyaksa Hospital Jakarta on August 22, 2025.

The medical review said Kerry had lung inflammation or pneumonia. Thus, the Salemba Class I Detention Center in Central Jakarta is considered more adequate because it has health care facilities with complete accreditation from the Indonesian Ministry of Health which is able to guarantee the defendant's treatment.

Meanwhile, when confirmed separately, Lingga Nugraha, as Kerry's attorney, appreciated the decision of the panel of judges. The transfer is considered in accordance with the human side and legal needs.

"We respect and appreciate the considerations of the panel of judges who prioritize the health condition of our clients," Lingga told reporters when confirmed, Tuesday, October 21.

"This transfer also facilitates the legal process, both for the trial and if the prosecutor needs Kerry's statement in other cases," he continued.

As previously reported, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Attorney General's Office charged Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza and two other defendants for causing state financial losses which were estimated at IDR 285.1 trillion.

In the indictment, the prosecutor detailed a number of actions that were considered detrimental to the state. One of them is related to the cooperation in renting the Merak BBM Terminal between companies affiliated with Kerry, namely PT Jenggala Maritime and PT Orbit Terminal Merak (OTM).

The prosecutor said that the Merak BBM Terminal rental cooperation was carried out with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga even though at that time an additional fuel terminal had not been needed. The value of the loss from this cooperation is estimated at IDR 2.9 trillion.
