KPK Questions The Seriousness Of Prabowo's Government To Revoke Nickel Mining Permit In Raja Ampat
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned the government's seriousness in revoking the mining business license (IUP) of four companies operating in the Raja Ampat area, Papua.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Task Force (Satgas) Korsup Region V KPK Dian Patria in a media discussion entitled 'Realizing a Free Mining from Corruption: Governance of Clean and Accountable Licensing and Supervision', Monday, October 21.
He said that since it was announced that the revocation of business licenses on June 10 there had been no decrees issued.
"Revocational at the State Palace what month is it? Announcement? August huh? June, eh June huh? Or July? June kayaknya. But frankly until now we have never seen the revocation decree," said Dian at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.
Dian admitted that he had been looking for information regarding the decree regarding the revocation of the four companies' IUPs. One of them, asked the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
"We asked Minerba," he said at the Investment Coordinating Board or BKPM, "he said.
'Ask BKPM, 'there is no letter from Minerba'. Check again, 'oh, it's already in the letter, it's being processed.' continued Dian.
This condition made him then question the government's seriousness in the revocation of the four IUPs.
"Whether or not the government is serious about withdrawing the four IUPs at Raja Ampat which were announced at the State Palace, but until now there are no documents at all," said Dian.
As a reminder, the government officially revoked four mining business permits (IUP) in the Raja Ampat Regency, Papua in June 2025. This step was taken after recent public protests.
