Press The Number Of Malaria Cases, Jayapura Regency Government Distributes 124,640 Kelambu
PAPUA - Jayapura Regency Government (Pemkab) in Papua through the local Health Office (Dinkes) distributed 124,640 nets to the public to accelerate malaria elimination in this area.
Jayapura Regent Yunus Wonda said the distribution of nets en masse to residents was an effort by the local government in suppressing the number of malaria cases in Bumi Kenambai Umbai, nicknamed Jayapura Regency.
"As of September 2025, there were 49,724 cases of malaria in Jayapura Regency, this figure shows that the potential for the spread of malaria is still quite high," he said in Sentani, Tuesday, which was confiscated by Antara.
Wonda hopes that the distribution of this mass audit can reduce the number of malaria cases in the region.

Head of the Jayapura District Health Office, Anton Mote, said the target for malaria elimination in this area is to reduce cases to one case per 1,000 population and currently the number of cases is still at 386 cases per 1,000 population.
"Efforts to reduce malaria are not easy but we continue to take various preventive measures and coordination across agencies and health centers," he said.
He added that his party immediately formed an integrated team so that the team could go directly to the field to visit the villages with a pick-up approach.
"Integration of health programs is an important strategy so that every visit to the field can provide wider benefits for the community," he said.
