Will Submit Electric Energy Waste Processing To The Center, Sultan HB X Tinjau 3 TPST

JAKARTA - Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X inspected three Integrated Waste Processing Sites (TPST) in this province, Tuesday, October 21.

The review was carried out by Sultan HB X before deciding on his ability to support the construction of a Waste Processing facility into Electricity (PSEL) by the central government.

The three TPSTs visited were TPST Kranon in Yogyakarta City, TPST Bawuran in Bantul Regency, and TPST Tamanmartani in Sleman Regency.

"This morning I am working with the regent/mayor, to equalize the vision. We have to make a decision. This waste is an investment and the resolution of waste in Yogya wants to be managed alone or will be handed over to the central government for handling," said the Sultan after reviewing the Tamanmartani TPST, Sleman, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the review of the three TPSTs is taken into consideration by the DIY Regional Government to determine integrated waste management steps, as well as to equalize regional policy directions with the PSEL development plan by the central government.

According to Sultan, the local government, especially Bantul, Sleman, and Yogyakarta Regencies, currently needs to consider two options for waste management that may be taken.

If the project is financed by the central government through PSEL, then the waste will be processed as raw material for power plants.

"Or it is done by each region. What choices we consider the best can be taken together as a form of decision," said the Sultan.

To support PSEL operations, according to the Sultan, local governments also need to ensure technical support, including preparing a waste supply of 1,000 tons per day.

"Because even if the center is taken, we still provide trucks to carry at least 1,000 tons of garbage per day to enter the manufacturer as raw material into electricity," said Sultan.

According to him, the PSEL project is likely to be built in the Piyungan TPST area, Bantul Regency.

Sultan emphasized that the construction of the new facility must also consider the sustainability of waste management infrastructure functions such as TPS3R and TPST which had previously been built with government funds.

The reason is, if the current waste management infrastructure must stop or stall due to PSEL, then it has the potential to cause legal problems.

"Because this 'cost' already exists, or vice versa has just been built, but in the end it has to stall. We have an accountability problem with BPK and BPKP, how do we have to do these things 'clearly' with the hope that in the back of the day there will be no problem whatsoever in the legal field," said Sultan.

According to Sultan, it is important to harmonize perceptions through cross-district/city coordination so that waste management measures in Yogyakarta Raya do not run alone.

He said the difference in the volume of waste in each region must be regulated in a joint agreement so that the target supply of 1,000 tons per day can be achieved.

"The decision remains in districts/cities because of the waste in districts/cities. But I don't want them to negotiate with the central government individually. We want the same mindset, and I am willing to help districts/cities for us together to deal with this problem," said Sultan.

Previously, the Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said that Yogyakarta Raya was included in the seven potential areas for the development of PSEL as a result of national verification.

Yogyakarta Raya includes the cities of Yogyakarta, Sleman Regency, and Bantul Regency.

Apart from Yogyakarta Raya, other areas designated are Denpasar Raya, Bogor Raya, Bekasi Raya, Tangerang Raya, Medan Raya, and Semarang Raya.
