Allegedly Involved In Scandal Harassment To Spying, Prince Andrew Releases British Royal Achievement
JAKARTA - King Charles III's younger brother, Prince Andrew announced his release of the British Royal national title. He no longer holds the title as Duke of York.
The announcement was made by Buckingham Palace on Friday, October 17, 2025. It was stated that Prince Andrew's decision to release his title had been discussed with his brother and other royal family.
"At talks with the King and his close and wider family, we decided on continued accusations of me keeping His Majesty's work and the royal family distracted," Prince Andrew said, quoted by the BBC, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
"With an agreement from His Majesty, we feel I should go further. Therefore, I will no longer use the title or honor that was awarded to me," he added.
Prince Andrew decided to release his royal title because the accusations of various crimes he allegedly committed did not end after years. The allegations have recently even gotten worse, which is said to have disturbed the royal family and government.
Some of the scandals suspected of involving Prince Andrew were about sexual harassment to spying allegations. Here are some of the scandals suspected of involving Prince Andrew.
1. Allegedly involved in the case of sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein
Prince Andrew is suspected of being involved in the Jeffrey Epstein case, which is known for his scandal as a sexual predator. Prince Andrew is said to have a close relationship with Epstein until he is suspected of being involved in his crimes.
Epstein is said to have traded and forced a woman to have sex with his friends in 2001, one of which was accused by Prince Andrew. This case was highly highlighted because at that time the victim was still a minor.
However, since this case emerged, Prince Andrew has often denied his involvement. When the announcement released his royal title, he also again denied all the accusations made against him.
"As I have said before, I firmly deny the accusations against me," he said.

2. Accused of harassing a woman named Virginia Giuffre
In 2022, Prince Andrew was also accused of sexually harassing a woman named Virginia Giuffre, who died last April. Previously, Prince Andrew had also denied the allegations.
However, this case resurfaced after Virginia's memoir titled Nobody's Girl, launched last week. Prince Andrew and his team are also suspected of renting an internet roller to disrupt Virginia until its memoir release.
Meanwhile, in his memoir, Virginia reiterated his accusations against Prince Andrew. Starting from being forced to have sex with the prince on three occasions, including when he was 17 years old, to during the culling after being traded by Jeffrey Epstein.
3. Allegedly involved in Chinese spies
In addition to allegations of sexual harassment, Prince Andrew is also under pressure over allegations of involvement in spying activities. He is suspected of being linked to a Chinese spy who is said to be operating in the UK, named Yang Tengbo.
Court documents reveal the extent of Prince Andrew's relationship with Yang Tengbo, which is said to have established close ties.
In a tribunal hearing in December 2024, which confirmed the previous decision to ban Tengbo from entering the UK, it was revealed that Tengbo was authorized to represent Prince Andrew in a business meeting with potential Chinese investors in the UK.
However, during the government's investigation into the relationship, Yang Tengbo denied any wrongdoing. Prince Andrew himself denied that he was involved in various scandals alleged against him.
