Kia Ready To Double EV Production In Europe, Target 200 Thousand Units Per Year
JAKARTA - South Korean automotive manufacturer Kia has a strong commitment in the European market, with plans to double production for its electric vehicle lineup.
According to a report from the Korea Car Blog, quoted Tuesday, October 21, the Korean giant plans to produce a combined 180,000 electric vehicles annually at a nicheilina factory in Slovakia, positioning Kia as a key player in Europe's competitive EV sector.
In addition, according to a report from Automotive News Europe, Kia's new production target requires 100,000 Kia EV2 and 80,000 Kia EV4 units to be built annually in Slovakia by 2027.
Including 20,000 EV4 units to be produced in South Korea, global EV2 and EV4 outputs will reach 200,000 units per year in the next two years.
"Kia aims to produce 200,000 EV2 and EV4 units every year. Once we reach this level, we will secure sustainable profitability in our EV ranks," said Kia President Song Ho Sung.

In August 2025, Kia launched EV4 production at its galcoilina facility, marking the brand's first electric vehicle built in Europe. Meanwhile, the facility is also intended to build EV2.
Kia EV2 mass production is scheduled to start in 2026, as the brand continues to expand its capacity in Europe. The company is currently building 320,000 vehicles per year, with plans to increase that number to 350,000 units through future upgrades.
Kia EV2 has been developed exclusively for the European market as a compact electric crossover SUV. Although Kia has not released complete specifications, EV2 is expected to be about 4,000 mm long or between Kia EV3 and Hyundai Inster.
