Not Playing, CATL World's Largest Battery Manufacturer Revenue In The Third Quarter Reaches IDR 242 Trillion

JAKARTA Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), the world's largest electric vehicle battery (EV) producer, reported outstanding financial performance in the third quarter (Q3) 2025. Based on reports released on October 20, the company recorded a significant surge in revenue and net profit, driven by high global demand and aggressive expansion in various international markets.

In the period July to September 2025, CATL posted operating income of 104.19 billion yuan or around Rp242.7 trillion, up 12.9 percent compared to the same period last year. Net profit attributable to shareholders jumped 41.2 percent to 18.55 billion yuan (around Rp43.2 trillion).

Reporting from ChinaEVHome, Tuesday, October 21, cumulatively, from January to September 2025, CATL earned an operating income of 283.07 billion yuan (around IDR 660 trillion) or grew 9.3 percent on an annual basis. Net profit reached 49.03 billion yuan (around IDR 114 trillion), up 36.2 percent compared to the previous year, with a net profit margin of 19.1 percent in the third quarter.

This profitability growth is driven by an increase in the portion of high-end battery products that provide higher margins. CATL also continues to expand production capacity to meet customer demand worldwide.

Global expansion is the main driver of revenue growth. The CATL plant in Germany has been fully operational since 2024 and has started to print profits. Meanwhile, the first phase facility in Hungary is targeted to be completed by the end of 2025. On the other hand, large projects in Spain and the development of the battery industry chain in Indonesia with a capacity of 15 GWh are scheduled to start operating in the first half of 2026.

In terms of innovation, CATL launched the No Propagation 3.0 technology platform and the XING Pro battery in September 2025. This technology presents new safety standards and supports ultra-fast charging capabilities of up to 12C. In addition, CATL's sodium-ion batteries are the first to acquire new national standard certifications, affirming their advantages in low temperature efficiency, safety, and production costs.

According to SNE Research data, from January to August 2025, global electric vehicle battery consumption reached 691.3 GWh, where CATL continued to lead with an installed capacity of 254.5 GWh. The company is also strengthening its ecosystem through collaboration with JD.com to expand battery swapping services, as well as collaborating with Sinopec in building battery exchange networks across China.
