Pencak Silat Gets First Gold For Indonesia At AYG 2025
JAKARTA The pencak silat sport managed to present the first gold medal for the Indonesian contingent at the 2025 Asian Youth Games (AYG) in Bahrain.
The gold was won by Furgon Habbil Winata from the men's 51's 55 kilograms class. Competing at Hall 1 Exhibition World Bahrain, Furgon appeared dominant from the start.
He beat Cambodian fighter Daniel Phouk, with a landslide score of 51'1 in the semifinals and then confirmed gold after a convincing win over the hosts, Abdul Qassim, with a score of 81'10 in the final round.
"Alhamdulillah, I am very happy that dreams come true. Hard work has been paid off so far," Furgon said in a statement received.

From the women's sector, Qiken Dwi Tata Oligia also contributed to achievements by winning a silver medal after a narrow loss to the representative of the Philippines, Kram Airam Carpio, with a score of 33'19 in the final round.
Qiken showed the mentality of the champion by turning things around in the semifinals against Uzbekistan's Feruza Bozorova. He was declared victorious after a 5454 draw as the opponent had more fouls.
From the men's 59'63 kg class, Pelilat from Uzbekistan, Nurislom Ruziboev, won a gold medal after defeating Temir Bikboev from Kyrgyzstan with a score of 46'16 in the final.
Chef de Mission (CdM) Indonesia for the 2025 Bahrain Asian Youth Games, Akbar Nasution, expressed his appreciation for this achievement.
"This victory proves that pencak silat has now truly become an Asian sport. Our athletes show extraordinary excellence and dedication to making the nation proud," said Akbar.
