Udayana Student Death Bullying Perpetrator Timothy Threatened By DO

DENPASAR - Udayana University (Unud) Bali formed a Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence and Bullying (PPKPT) to investigate the death of Udayana University (Unud) student Timothy Anugerah Saputra (21) who jumped from the Fisip building.

The head of the Udayana University Public Communication Unit, Dewi Pascarani, said that Unud Bali assigned the PPKPT Task Force to conduct an in-depth investigation, especially regarding expressions that were not empathetic on social media by a number of Unud students.

"Several students who said mir empathy have been summoned and examined. To speed up the process, the task force is supported by a fact-finding team formed by universities consisting of several elements, namely legal experts and psychologists," said Pascarani, Monday, October 20.

He said the PPKT Task Force team was tasked with collecting and examining data, as well as facts about the psychosocial aspects of the late Timothy.

The Task Force is expected to immediately compile recommendations to the leadership regarding what sanctions will be imposed on all bullying perpetrators.

In addition, Unud also invited the public to jointly refrain from assuming and not to give space to the PPKPT task force team to complete their duties properly.

"And we promise that we are committed to overseeing this case and continue to provide updates regarding the results of the assessment from the PPKPT Task Force," he said.

There were six Unud students who bullied.

"In the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, there are 6 (people). But for other faculties we still need to confirm again. Because of this, this is a statement on social media, expressions of empathy on social media, it must be different from whether this can be said to be bullying, it is also still a study from the PPKPT Task Force," he said.

Regarding screenshots related to the lack of empathy for the victim, it is still being investigated.

"Screenshot or it's an assumption. So there is an assumption that after death it was bullied, especially before. Of course we can't confirm this before further investigation. That, the reason or cause before the deceased, the data and facts will be collected further by the fact-finding team from Udayana University," he explained.

The students who are bullying are still continuing the education process, where currently Unud is holding a Semester Middle Test (UTS).

"Until now it is still running. Because it is still in the UTS stage and is under investigation. So there has been no decision on the suspension or what is given by the faculty. Because we are once again waiting for the results from the PPKPT Task Force," he said.

If proven to have bullied, the campus will impose a drop-out (DO) sanction.

"But once again it is not a final sanction. Sanctions will be determined by the rector on the recommendation of the PPKPT Task Force. When the perpetrator is proven that it is true to take the alleged actions and also to what extent and what exact impact and sanctions are given in accordance with the rules," he said.
