4WD REX Subaru, Daihatsu Rocky Twins Officially Launch In Japan

JAKARTA - In the Japanese local market, Subaru and Daihatsu have a very strong bond. It is proven to give birth to a car that is not much different. Yes, the model in question is Subaru REX or a twin of Daihatsu Rocky.

Subaru REX itself has been present since 2022 and was born in the 2025 version which launched last June armed with a choice of hybrid engines. Now, the brand is expanding its choice for customers by presenting the 4WD REX.

Quoting from the Motorist page, Monday, October 20, this car is designed to integrate practicality with a sense of adventure, the new 4WD REX provides increased traction and confidence in various driving conditions.

In design, Subaru REX retains the DNA of a brave brand design, featuring a hexagonal front lattice flanked by a sleek LED headlights and a sporty front bumper with integrated LED fog lights and DRL.

The SUV box silhouette is emphasized by black-painted pillars A and B, providing a tough and modern look. The LED rearlight rod stretches across the back, paired with a bumper that is beaten and a 17-inch rim complementary to its confident attitude.

The top variant also adds an heated wiper designed to increase visibility in cold weather conditions, this feature is claimed to be important for Japanese drivers.

Entering the cabin, Subaru REX combines minimalist aesthetics with a premium touch. Equipped with a 7-inch TFT multi-information screen, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, and a leather wheel and a gear node.

The front appointment of the chair is also heating and an additional heating system has been embedded to provide extra warmth during winter. Dark interior materials add to a smooth and comfortable atmosphere.

Under the engine hood, the Subaru REX 4WD has a three-cylindrical 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, producing 98 hp and 140 Nm torque. The power is transmitted via D-CVT automatic transmission with 4WD Dynamic Torque Control, which automatically distributes power between front and rear wheels for optimal traction based on road conditions.

To improve security, Subaru has equipped the model with a Smart Assist ADAS suite, including features such as collision warnings, adaptive controls, and automatic emergency braking ensuring peace of mind on every trip.

Speaking of price, the new 4WD Subaru REX is now available in Japan starting from 2,187,900 yen or around Rp240 million. Offering a compact mix of practicality, everyday comfort, and original Subaru force capabilities, the 4WD REX is an attractive option for urban drivers looking for affordable SUVs with the performance of any real weather.

Customers are offered various colors such as Shining White Pearl, Black Mica Metallic, Smooth Gray Mica Metallic, Fire Quartz Red Metallic and Laser Blue Crystal Shine. The choice of two tones also includes black Mica Metallic \times Shining White Pearl and Black Mica Metallic \times Smooth Gray Mica Metallic.
