BMW IX1 Terbaru Ready "Reborn" With Captivating Design And "Neue Classe" Technology

JAKARTA After the latest BMW iX3 which became the first model to carry the philosophy of design and technology Neue Classe was introduced at the Munich Motor Show 2025, automotive lovers are now looking forward to other models that will follow in their footsteps.

The latest news says BMW is preparing a major update for its flagship compact electric SUV, BMW iX1, which will also adopt Neue Classe's design and technology concept.

Although the current model is only introduced in 2022, the next iX1 generation is expected to launch in the next two years. This is in line with BMW's ambition to integrate Neue Classe technology into all of their portfolios by the end of 2027, including on conventional X1-engine models.

Referring to Autoexpress's report, Monday, October 20, radical updates on iX1 design will take inspiration from the recently launched iX3 model. Based on the exclusive image leak from the piloted prototype, the latest iX1 will feature a closed perpendicular kidney culling for aerodynamic efficiency, as well as a distinctive forward light cluster, resembling the classic BMW design as in the 2002 and 3 Series models of E30 generation. In addition, iX1 will have a more prominent wheel array to give an aggressive impression.

In aerodynamics, BMW will embed several features to increase efficiency and distance. These features include a flattened door handle and a more sloping windshield. On the back, it is expected that there will be wide rear lights similar to iX3, roof spoilers, and different front-backward bumper designs between standard trim and M Sport.

The most prominent area on iX1 Neue Classe is an increase in power efficiency. Although it will have a smaller battery than iX3 (which now offers an extraordinary 800 km of distance with a battery of 108.7kWh), iX1 will adopt the same cylindrical cell layout on the Neue Classe platform for better packaging. This promises a significant increase in the maximum distance of current models at 471 km.

In terms of performance, iX1 will be offered in various single motor and double motor powertrain configurations. A significant difference from the current model is that the cheapest iX1 variant will have a motor mounted on the back doubles, as the Neue Classe platform does not accommodate the front wheel drive layout. The sixth generation eDrive electric motor used on this platform is capable of generating up to 402 bhp of power for the rear units, with additional power at the front for the double motor model.

While it is not expected to reach the current iX3 xDrive50 power peak of 463 bhp, a sizeable increase of the current iX1 model maximum power at 309 bhp is likely to occur. The launch of this latest iX1 will make it a formidable competitor in the compact electric SUV market, competing directly with models like the new Kia EV3, the upcoming electric Mercedes GLA, and the Audi Q4 e-tron that will get a refresher.
