Indonesian Embassy In Phnom Penh Assists 97 Indonesian Citizens Arrested By Cambodian Police
The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) at Phnom Penh provided assistance to 97 Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were arrested by the Chrey Thum police, Cambodia, for allegedly being involved in a riot in the city.
They have provided assistance in the form of ready-to-eat food, medicines, as well as sanitation and women needs to these Indonesian citizens.
Previously, a video circulated on social media stating that hundreds of Indonesian citizens fled the cage of an online fraud company in the city of Chrey Thum, Kandal Province, Cambodia.
The Indonesian Embassy, in a press release received on Sunday, October 19, explained that of the 97 Indonesian citizens who fled, 86 of them were detained at the police station, while 11 others were hospitalized.
After receiving information about the arrest on October 17, 2025, the Indonesian Embassy immediately coordinated with the local police and saw the condition of Indonesian citizens.
The Indonesian Embassy ensures that all Indonesian citizens are in conditions that do not endanger lives.
According to the Indonesian Embassy, the local police have carried out an initial investigation process and detained four Indonesian citizens suspected of committing violence.
The Provincial Authority of Kandal stated that it would immediately transfer Indonesian citizens to immigration detention at Phnom Penh before deporting.
