OJK Reveals Indonesia Is Now In A Digital Fraud Emergency Situation
JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) revealed that Indonesia is currently in a state of emergency fraud or scam. This was conveyed following the high number of reports of digital fraud cases entering the Indonesia Anti Scam Center (IASC).
Head of the OJK Protection Department Rudy Agus Purnomo Raharjo said that since its establishment in November 2024 until the end of September 2025, IASC has received an average of 874 scam case reports every day.
"In our fraud, I think this is already vigilant, be alert to scams. It's a scam emergency, it's a fraud emergency. Just imagine, every day if we look at it, 900-1,000 people have reported to IASC," he said in the media gathering, quoted on Sunday, October 19.
Rudy emphasized the importance of education as a preventive measure and OJK continues to strive to improve the financial literacy and digital literacy of the community in tandem.
He added that the public can be more vigilant and not easily trapped in various modes of fraud, especially those targeting the digital financial sector.
"Those two things need to be considered, so that people are more literate, more literate related to the products that were issued and the arena earlier, if you see how many have reported, almost 300 thousand," he said.
Rudy conveyed that of the total 299,237 reports received by IASC, more than 487,000 suspicious accounts were found, and 94,344 accounts had been blocked as a follow-up.

This step is part of OJK's preventive and repressive efforts with related institutions to break the chain of fraud transactions in Indonesia.
In addition, the OJK through the Illegal Financial Activity Handling Task Force (Satgas PASTI) has also stopped 1,840 illegal financial entities spread across various digital platforms.
Of these, 1,566 are illegal online loans, and 284 other entities are engaged in illegal investments.
Overall, 17,531 complaints have been received by the DEFINITE Task Force with details, 13,999 complaints related to illegal loans and 3,532 others regarding investments that violate the rules.
