ANTAM Hopes Gold DMO Gives Certainty Of Miners And Processers' Business

LUBUK LINGGAU - PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM) hopes that domestic supply obligations (DMO) for gold commodities are regulated fairly, so that miners and processors can obtain business certainty and a balanced economic value.

"The DMO policy is expected to be prepared with a principle that is transparent and fair, so that all actors in the supply chain can play an active role in maintaining the sustainability of the national gold industry," said ANTAM Corporate Secretary Division Head Wisnu Danandi Haryanto in a statement received in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, Saturday.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is considering drafting regulations related to the gold DMO. The regulatory development plan has also surfaced in a hearing by Commission VI of the DPR with ANTAM at the end of last September.

ANTAM, which is a member of the MIND ID mining BUMN holding company, is experiencing a shortage of gold supply due to increasing demand and reduced supply due to the landslide of PT Freeport's gold mine, which is one of the domestic gold suppliers.

In order for the implementation of the DMO rules to run effectively, Wisnu also said that his party saw the need for synchronization of cross-sectoral policies.

He stated that it is important to harmonize aspects of taxation, commerce, and other supporting regulations in order to create a strong and competitive gold and silver precious metal ecosystem.

ANTAM believes that appropriate policy adjustments will encourage the growth of the national gold and silver precious metal industry that is competitive and sustainable, and provide tangible benefits for society and the national economy," he said.

Wisnu said that his party welcomed the government's plan to strengthen the availability of gold for the community through optimizing supply from domestic sources.

He stated that the policy could be a strategic step for the government in maintaining a balance between community needs, industrial sustainability, and increasing the added value of national mineral commodities.

He also emphasized that the amount of domestic supply obligations is entirely within the authority of the government and will take into account the needs of the domestic market, national production capacity, and the dynamics of the gold and silver industry as a whole.

ANTAM fully supports the government's steps in ensuring that the public can gain access to gold from within the country. "We are ready to carry out government directives in order to strengthen domestic gold supply," said Wisnu Danandi Haryanto.
