PLN Supply 80 MVA To Strengthen Steel Factory Operations In Banten

JAKARTA - PT Lautan Baja Indonesia (LBI), a national construction steel producer in the Cikande industrial area, Serang Regency, Banten, is now operating more optimally after the electricity supply from PT PLN (Persero) increased to 80 megavolt amperes (MVA).

This large-scale energy supply strengthens the operational reliability of the factory and encourages increased production capacity.

Director of PT Lautan Baja Indonesia, Andi, said that cooperation with PLN is an important factor in maintaining the company's business sustainability and competitiveness.

"We thank PLN Banten's Main Distribution Unit (UID) for its extraordinary support in maintaining the reliability of electricity supply."

"This additional power really has a direct impact on our efficiency and production capacity," Andi said in a written statement, Saturday, October 18, 2025.

PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, said that his party is committed to providing reliable electricity supplies for all customers, including the industrial sector.

This is in line with the Government's efforts to accelerate downstreaming and encourage sustainable economic growth.

"With the completion of the addition of power at PT LBI, we hope that factory operations can run more optimally and efficiently."

"This step is also expected to create a multiplier effect on employment and contribute significantly to the national economy," he said.

Meanwhile, General Manager of PLN UID Banten, Mohammad Joharifin, said that PLN continues to strengthen the synergy between units to ensure electricity infrastructure is ready to support needs in industrial areas.

With the spirit of transformation and excellent service, PLN is committed to continuing to provide reliable, quality, and customer satisfaction-oriented electricity supplies.

"This step is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to providing the best service for customers through the provision of reliable electricity to support the growth of the industrial sector in Banten," he said.

Joharifin explained that the connection of power for PT LBI was carried out progressively. In the early stages, PLN distributed 60 MVA power using the 2times30 MVA mobile transformer as a temporary solution as long as the construction of the main substation was still ongoing.

The move ensures that customer operations can run immediately. After the main substation with a capacity of 150 kilovolts (kV) is completed, the distribution capacity is increased to 80 MVA so that customer energy needs can be met.

"This stage shows our seriousness in ensuring that every industrial customer gets electricity supply on time, safe, and reliable," he said.
